Mental Health in the Workplace

“Mental health issues can affect one in four people at some point in their lives and have a significant impact on employee wellbeing.” (CIPD, 2022)

Known as being one of the biggest causes of long-term absence from work, It is essential that employers should promote good mental health and provide support for employees who are experiencing ill mental health.

When it comes to mental health at work, it is key to understand all aspects of a person’s mental make up: from emotion, to personality, and values, through to skills and cognitive ability. When we can holistically understand all these things, we can start to appreciate the types of work that will actually satisfy individuals.

One of our missions at Cognisess is developing skill, managers included. CIPD’s 2022 ‘Health and Wellbeing at Work’ survey report identified that ‘management style’ is a main cause of work related stress. By managers continuing to develop their people management skills they can help prevent and manage stress which can be linked to common mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression.

By understanding yourself and your employees, you can help boost peoples’ mental health at work, something we all want to achieve.

At Cognisess we fundamentally believe that everyone deserves to do a job they enjoy, so we are completely disrupting the market by making cutting edge scientific insight affordable and accessible to everyone.
